Laraluen Cruise | 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬
Meet Laraluen Cruise, a talented gelding heading to his very first Nationals! Representing NSW in the Subbies, this clever and responsive horse is already making a name for himself with his versatility, quick thinking, and great temperament.
Breeding: By Cadabra out of a Thoroughbred mare bred by Harry Barclay. His mare’s line traces back to the famous American racehorse Secretariat, giving him some impressive heritage.
Mare or Gelding: Gelding
Owner: Kate Caruana
Rider: Charlotte Caruana
Bred or Purchased: Home bred – Laraluen ASH
State Representing: NSW
Team: Subbies
Best Position:
Cruise is happiest playing 3 or 2, where his ability to watch the play and think for himself really shines. That said, he’s also quite capable as a 1, thanks to how light, responsive, and quick he is.
Nationals Experience:
This will be his first Polocrosse Nationals.
If your horse was a famous person:
Robert Downey Jr. – intelligent, charismatic, quick-witted and sharp. Sometimes full of rapid-fire energy, other times cool, calm and collected – a pretty fitting personality for Cruise!
Quirkiest Habit:
Drifting his hindquarters at times – earning him the unofficial nickname “Tokyo Drift.” It can actually make him tricky to mark up, as he can check on an angle, quickly side-pass, and be gone again.
Biggest Achievements:
Cruise has won several Best Number awards, competed at Pony Club State Sporting, and collected a number of ribbons along the way. He’s also proven himself outside polocrosse, confidently tackling cross country and show jumping.
A Little More About Cruise:
He’s a cool horse to ride – super light, responsive, and quick, but also incredibly kind and easy on the ground. Safe with the kids and a real family favourite, Cruise is a horse the Caruana family truly loves.
Good luck to Laraluen Cruise and Charlotte as they make their Nationals debut on the Road to Darwin!
