Some horses quietly go about their job, while others leave a lasting impression wherever they play. Gilgurry Gleam is one of those horses. A tough, athletic and incredibly versatile mare, Gleam has spent years proving herself across multiple teams, riders and positions on the polocrosse field.

Gilgurry Gleam is the ultimate all-rounder and a much-loved member of the Johnson family team. Earlier in her career she built a strong reputation playing the 2 and 3 positions with Sydnee, showing plenty of reliability and grit on the field. These days she has stepped into a new role as a gun No.1 mount for Heath, proving just as effective leading the charge up front.
Despite being a seasoned competitor, Gleam still brings plenty of personality around the stables. In the yard she can be a bit of a dragon, happily trying to bite anyone or anything within reach. Once youβre in the saddle though, sheβs the complete opposite β push-button, reliable and super easy to ride. Itβs no wonder sheβs been trusted by so many riders over the years.
In fact, Gleam may hold the unofficial record for the most jockeys in the Johnson camp, having carried nine different riders across her career. Even Matt managed to sneak a game on her onceβ¦ much to everyoneβs amusement!
Her career has also been decorated with plenty of success, including Champion Ladies ASH at the Queensland State Titles and Zone Carnivals, along with a swag of other awards along the way.
If Gleam were a famous person, the Johnson family reckon sheβd be ShaβCarri Richardson β a true pocket rocket, packed with athletic ability and just the right amount of attitude.
With experience, speed and plenty of heart, Gilgurry Gleam is set to proudly fly the Queensland colours once again on the Road to the Darwin Nationals.
