📰 Media Coverage at Carnivals – A Quick Thought 🐎

We all love seeing our carnivals featured in the local paper or picked up by journalists — it’s fantastic exposure for our clubs, our players and the sport we all love 🙌

A great recap article sharing how the weekend unfolded, the results, the atmosphere and the community spirit is something really special.

But… have we ever stopped to think about the photos that go along with those stories?

📸 Are the photographers familiar with horses?
📸 Do they understand polocrosse and the speed of the game?
📸 Do they know that sometimes there are those “ohh moments” that don’t need to be shared publicly?

Horses or riders caught in awkward or unfortunate situations might be part of the game — but they don’t always paint our sport in the best light, especially to those outside of it.

👉 While media exposure is incredibly important, how our sport is represented matters just as much.

As clubs and committees, it might be worth:
• Having a quick chat with journalists/photographers beforehand
• Supplying a small selection of approved images
• Or even recommending an equine photographer who understands the sport

Let’s keep promoting polocrosse — but let’s make sure we’re showcasing it in a positive, professional and respectful way 💙

Because first impressions count… and we want people to see just how great this sport really is.
